Pedal and motor driven tricycle

A pedal and motor driven tricycle (10) has a transmission system (60) for selectively coupling the motor (56) to the rear wheels (18,20) of the tricycle. The system automatically couples the motor from the rear wheels when the motor is activated, to drive the wheels; and the system automatically decouples the motor from the rear wheels when the motor is deactivated, thereby permitting free rotation of the wheels.
