PURPOSE:To decrease fraction defective of cutting by hot-pressing the portion to be cut of nonwoven separator material to melt fibers and to make dense, then cutting the center of densified portion. CONSTITUTION:A belt-shaped nonwoven separator 1 is hot-pressed by an upper hot plate 2 and a lower hot plate 3 which have slightly larger dimensions than required dimension of separator to decrease thickness of hot-pressed portion and to form a densified part 6 by melting fibers. The center of the densified part 6 is cut with a cutting punch 4 and a cutting die 5. Since the separator material is not so heated that fibers are burned, residual of fiber does not adhere on a heater such as nichrome wire. Since fibers pressed by specified thickness are melt-bonded each other to form densified part, cutting blade can be easily adjusted. |
