PURPOSE:To have a W-shaped folding of sheet compactly and securely by folding a sheet into the shape of W while pressing the folding line and foldback line of the sheet simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:A sheet transported by a transport device is supported by a retainer vertically, and the middle part of the sheet is pressed in the direction fore and aft by a pair of folding plates 401, 402 and a foldback plate 420 simultaneously, and then the oversurface and undersurface of the sheet is guided backward by a pair of guide members 438, 439 to provide a single-action folding of the sheet into the shape of W. According to this arrangement the W-shaped folding can be accomplished by a single action surely without going through a plurality of processes as in any conventional method, in which the arrangement should include longer guides, supports, etc., which will lead to enbodiment of a compact sheet foling device with excellent processing performance. |
