PURPOSE:A three-dimensionally crosslinked, high-refractive index plastic lens material excellent in visible light transmittance, mar resistance, and weather resistance, containing dimethallyl phthalate as a principal component. CONSTITUTION:A plastic lens material comprising a polymer containing at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of dimethallyl orthophthalate, dimethallyl isophthalate and dimethallyl terephthalate as a principal component and having a refractive index >=1.55. This plastic lens material is a colorless transparent object of a visible light transmittance >=90%, has a refractive index >=1.55, is low in the generation of heat during molding, can be precision-molded and can satisfy the properties necessary for a lens, such a mar resistance, whether resistance and grindability with a diamond grindstone.
