<p>A casting resin contains (a) a free-flowing, hardenable (meth)-acrylate ester, (b) a finely divided inorganic filler which contains (c) an organo-Si bonding agent with at least 1 ethylenically unsatd. gp., and (d) an ester of an acid of a Gp. IV or V metal. Component (a) is an ester of a 1-18C aliphatic or aromatic alcohol, opt. contg. ether oxygen. The pref. non-crosslinking ester is methyl methacrylate. Crosslinking components, e.g. ethylene glycol dimethacrylate, butene diol methacrylate, or allyl methacrylate, may be added. (b) The particle size is not above 100 microns, esp. 0-10 microns. Fillers may be natural or synthetic, e.g. alumina, CaCO3, ZnO, mica, glass flour, or clinker ash. Used esp. for sanitary goods, e.g. wash-basins, showers, WC bowls. Other uses include construction units, e.g. machine foundations or beds, and containers. The viscosity of the compsn. is less than that of the unmodified resin. The amt. of (c) and (d) is very small. Addn. of a dispersant is not necessary.</p> |
