PURPOSE:To enable the complete removal of stains adhering firmly to the food such as vegetables, fruits, etc., by charging the object to be treated together with specific scrubbing brushes in a tank filled with a cleaning liquid, and blasting gas from the bottom of the tank. CONSTITUTION:Bristles 12 are cemented to the surface of the hollow rod 11 closed at one end, and the specific gravity of the rod is adjusted to the level nearly equal to or slightly higher than that of the washing liquid by putting a weight, etc. in the hollow of the rod 11, to obtain a scrubbing brush 9. The pump 2 of the cleaning apparatus 10 is operated to eject water W in the tank. Water is made to flow along the direction of the arrow (a) and is circulated through the over-flow path 7 to the ejection line 3. At the same time, air is blasted in water through the air-supply line 6 and the aeration pipe 5 to effect the agitation of water. The object to be cleaned, e.g. vegetables, fruits, etc. are thrown together with the above scrubbing brushes 9 into the tank 1. The object cleaned completely in the tank is delivered from the tank by the delivery conveyor 4.
