In conventional vacuum cleaners, which include an extension tube (2) with a mouthpiece (6) and a lead (4) connected to the extension tube, problems sometimes arise, when the operator wishes to put the vacuum cleaner to one side for a short period. The operator then usually has to lay the extension tube (2) down, which is uncomfortable. This invention sweeps away these problems by fitting the extension tube (2) with an arrangement of support legs (48), which can be extended, whereby the extension tube (2) with its mouthpiece (6) and support legs (48) make up a rest for the extension tube (2) and its mouthpiece (6).The applicant explains further that there is a locking device, contained inside the support arrangement (8) which enables the support legs (48) to be held in either a rest position (fig. 1), where the legs are parallel with the extension tube (2) o r an extended operational position (fig. 2), where the legs (48), together with the extension tube (2) and the mouthpiece (6), form a three-legged stand, providing the required upright position for the extension tube.<IMAGE> |
