PURPOSE:To drive a polyphase AC load by a single-phase AC power source in a simple circuit configuration by sequentially sorting the half waves of a single- phase AC power source into polyphases by a semiconductor switching element to obtain symmetrical polyphase voltages. CONSTITUTION:A single-phase AC power source waveform 1 is sorted into n waves by a semiconductor switching element at every positive and negative half waves to obtain symmetrical n-phase voltages having a frequency of 1/n of a power source and 360/n out of phase. When 2-phase AC are, for example, obtained, the half waves of a single-phase waveform 1 are inverted, sorted into two to obtain 2-phase ACs 2, 3. When 3-phase AC are obtained, the half waves are sorted into three to obtain 3-phase ACs 4-6. The circuit for producing the 2- phase AC, two bridge circuits of switching elements TH may be used as shown. |
