PURPOSE:To decarburize efficiently a high Ni-Fe alloy under reduced pressure while preventing slopping by properly adjusting the operation pressure, the rate of oxygen fed and the carbon content before decarburization. CONSTITUTION:A high Ni-Fe alloy is decarburized under reduced pressure while blowing gaseous oxygen. At this time, the operation pressure P(atm.), the rate Q(Nm<3>/T.min) of oxygen fed and the carbon content Ci(%) before decarburization are adjusted so as to satisfy equations CiQ<=0.23 and P>=5.5(CiQ-0.05). By this method C-O reaction is inhibited and slopping is prevented, so decarburization is efficiently carried out. |
