PURPOSE:To provide the ground contact surface itself with edge effect for preventing it from slipping and from damaging the road, by arranging in the crests of a tread pattern of the tire at least two different tread materials having different compression strengths. CONSTITUTION:A tire tread is formed of a first tread member 1 made of an elastic material such as rubber. In the crest portions of the pattern of the tread, a multiplicity of second tread members 2 shaped into thin leaves and having a compression strength higher than that of the first tread member are arranged along the radial direction while the end of each second tread member 2 is exposed in the ground contact surface. The second tread members thus exposed has a linear shape as shown by A in the drawing, for example, when viewed from the ground contact surface side. Accordingly, the local difference between said tread members 1 and 2 in bearing pressure allows the second tread members 2 to bite the ground surface or to effectively utilize fine uneveness on the ground surface, so that edge effect can be obtained. |
