PURPOSE:To record clear images by a simple device, by a method wherein a thermal recording layer comprising a thermoplastic resin having a specified lowest film-forming temperature is subjected to thermal recording, and then non- image parts are washed away with a developing liquid. CONSTITUTION:A coating liquid comprising particles of a thermoplastic resin having a lowest film-forming temperature of 80-150 deg.C, e.g., an emulsion of a homopolymer or copolymer of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid or the like, a dye or pigment, e.g., a metallic powder or carbon black, and a water-soluble resin, e.g., gelatine or starch, is applied to a water-resistant base to provide the thermal recording layer, thereby obtaining the thermal recording material. The recording layer is subjected to thermal recording by a thermal head, thereby melting the resin particles in accordance with images and producing a difference in solubility in water, then the non-image parts are washed away with a developing liquid such as water and a surfactant, and the images are fixed. |
