The metal-wire reel 1, in which a ring of wire 2 is held in a cage formed from a cross-member 3, the branches 4 of which are folded over so as to retain the said ring 2 and to act as a pay-out device, the wire 6 being drawn as required through an eye 5 arranged in the centre of the cross-member 3, is characterised in that it furthermore comprises, on its periphery, a cutting device 7 fixed, above a portion of the ring 2, to two remote branches 4 of the cross-member 3, which cutting device 7 consisting of two superposed blades 8, 9, one a lower blade 9 and the other an upper blade 8, which are solidly attached at one end 10, the lower blade 9 closest to that part of the ring 2 having two recesses 11, 12 close to its edges with two lugs 13, 14 for fixing to each of the respective branches 4 of the cross-member 3 and at least one wire 6 guiding groove 17 which coincides with at least one respective notch 18 provided on one of the edges of the upper blade 8. <IMAGE>
