<p>MACHINE FOR PULLING OVER AND LASTING TOE PORTIONS OF SHOES Machine for pulling over and lasting toe portions of shoes and comprising a shoe support for supporting, bottom down, a shoe assembly comprising an upper on a last and an insole on the last bottom. A plurality of gripper assemblies is arranged in a generally inverted U-formation about the shoe support for effecting relative heightwise movement between the shoe support and the gripper assemblies whereby the toe end portion of the upper of a shoe supported by the shoe support and gripped by the gripper assemblies can be tensioned on its last. A wiper is provided for lasting marginal portions of the upper, tensioned as aforesaid, and is wiped over and pressed against corresponding marginal portions of the insole of the shoe assembly wherein at least three gripper assemblies are provided and two gripper assemblies wherein the support shaft has fixedly secured thereto a slide member on which the second support plate is mounted for sliding movement in a direction which, when the assembly forms part of a machine, is inclined at an acute angle to the longitudinal center line of the shoe support of such machine, thus to adjust the position of the gripper jaws of the assembly generally lengthwise of the shoe support. The latter two assemblies are arranged one each side of the shoe support and constitute the most heelwardly disposed of the plurality of gripper assemblies.</p> |
