PURPOSE:To generate or correct quickly and easily a sequence program by inputting an input/output address of a circuit element so as to display a single or plural circuit elements corresponding to the input/output address on a ladder circuit. CONSTITUTION:A program stored in a sequence memory 12 of a programmable controller 10 is read in a RAM 22 via interfaces 14, 28. When an address of an output element of a relay coil is inputted from a keyboard 27, the sequence program is searched to detect a program block including the output element and the result is transferred to a prescribed area of the storage device. The program block is converted into the circuit element symbol, a ladder circuit is displayed on a screen of a ladder display device 25, and an output address of a specified relay is displayed on a character display device 26. Thus, only the specific ladder circuit is selected among the sequence programs and displayed on a display device comprising a liquid crystal panel having a narrow display screen.
