Continuous manufacture of reinforced plastics in semi-finished condition, the laminate thus produced and the plant used. The method involves conveyor belts onto which a thixotropic gel coat of unreinforced plastic is deposited by an extruder. One or more layers of thixotropic reinforced plastic are then added in stations along the conveyor, and then a final layer is deposited on a smooth surface to form the gel coat of the other side. The reinforced core contains at least one tier of cellulose or foam plastic, not in polymerized or foamed condition but with a foaming agent added for the subsequent curing. At least one layer of a water emitting thermosetting resin is included together with plaster of Paris in proportion to absorb the water given off during the setting. On completion the semi-finished laminate is wrapped in plastic foil with the air evacuated to make a rigid prod. |
