PURPOSE:To store an alkaline battery without deteriorating its appearance over a long period of time by placing ring-like alkali-proof liquid-absorbing member and resin plate over the negative sealing plate and then convering the entire body except the central area of the negative sealing plate and the bottom of the positive case with a thermocontractile resin tube. CONSTITUTION:After the periphery of a positive case 4 is curled inward, a resin sealing ring 5 is clamped between the opening end of the positive case 4 and the periphery of a negative sealing plate 3 to seal the battery. Annular alkali-proof liquid-absorbing paper 2 and resin plate 1 prepared by stamping are placed on the negative sealing plate 3 in such a manner as to expose its central top above the paper 2 and the plate 1. After that, the entire body except the bottom of the positive case 4 and the central top of the negative sealing plate 3 is covered with a thermocontractile resin tube 6. Owing to the above structure, electrolyte leaking out either between the sealing plate 3 and the sealing ring 5 or between the positive case 4 and the sealing ring 5 is absorbed by the alkali-proof electrolyte-absorbing paper 2 and prevented from permeating outside the battery by the alkali-proof resin plate 1 over a long period of time. |
