PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing film, of 10 μm or less in thickness that has high optical characteristics, for an organic EL display device.SOLUTION: A polarizing film for an organic EL display device is a continuous web composed of polyvinyl alcohol resin in which a dichroic substance is oriented, made into 10 μm or less in thickness, after a laminate containing a polyvinyl alcohol resin layer which is formed as a film on an amorphous ester-based thermoplastic resin substrate is extended through a two-stage extension process including aerial auxiliary extension and boric acid underwater extension, and has optical characteristics satisfying conditions: T≥42.5 and P≥99.5, where T is single transmittance and P is degree of polarization.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
