PURPOSE:To separate an elastic rubbing roller and an image carrier from each other unless the cleaning device is in operation and prevent an image carrier from being soiled with bleeding oil and the resulting deterioration in picture quality by arranging the elastic rubbing roller so that it contacts and leaves the surface of the image carrier. CONSTITUTION:The elastic rubbing roller 7d is supported pivotally on one end of a rod body 8, and the other end of the rod body 8 projects out of the casing of the cleaning device and is fitted to the core of a solenoid 9. A scraper 7e abuts on the rubbing roller 7d and scrapes off sticking foreign matter. The solenoid 9 is connected to a humidity detection member 18 through a control part 17 and turned on and off according to the humidity detected by the humidity detection member 18, thereby rubbing or separating the rod body 8, i.e. rubbing roller 7d against and from the surface of the photosensitive body. When the relative humidity becomes >=45%, the control part operates the solenoid to press the rubbing roller against the photosensitive body and when it becomes <45%, the rubbing roller is separated from the photosensitive body. Further, when the copying machine is turned off, the roller is separated from the photosensitive body as well. |
