The mixture of new gases is precompressed inside the crankcase 6 and is passed into the combustion chamber of the cylinder 1 through several intake pipes 7 which end in ports 8 that are opened by the piston 9 only when the latter is at bottom dead centre, each of these intake pipes 7 comprising a nonreturn valve 10 in the form of a single flexible steel blade, with the result that a high degree of filling of the cylinder is economically obtained without risk of loss of new gases. <IMAGE>
