<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal display panel requiring no rubbing step, capable of using clean base plates free from dust or the like, and enhanced in reliability by providing a pair of electrodes or/and base plates with innumerable minute parallel grooves in the direction different from each other by about 90 deg. between the pair of electrodes. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal cell is provided with no thin org. film for orienting molecules, but innumerable minute grooves 12 for controlling the molecule orientation on the surfaces of the electrodes, and the directions of the grooves are made different from each other by 90 deg. between the pair of electrodes. The transparent electrodes 3, 4 are made of indium oxide or tin oxide. The depth of the grooves 12 depends on the orientability of the liquid crystals to be used, and various depth are used from few 10nm causing depression of the groove parts of the transparent electrodes 3, 4 to the depth that the groove parts of them are perfectly removed till the base plates are disclosed, or the groove parts of the glass base plates are depressed.</p> |
