INTERMEDIATE ROLL SHIFT DEVICE FOR ROLLING MILL

PURPOSE:To provide a compact construction with a decreased number of parts and reduced weight and to improve the ease of maintenance by providing a movable guide block for sliding and guiding an intermediate roll. CONSTITUTION:The movable guide block 11, when actuated by a shift cylinder 7, is guided by a project block 10 incorporated in a mill housing 1 and moves in the axial direction of the roll. The movable guide block 11 and an intermediate roll metal chock 5 are connected by means of a hook 9. The chock 5 and the intermediate roll 3 move in the axial direction of the roll in synchronization with the movement of the block 11 by the cylinder 7. The hook 9 for connecting the chock 5 attached to the block 11 is released in the case of removing the roll 3 form the inside of the housing 1 in a roll change operation. The chocks 5 and 3 are then made independently movable in the axial direction of the roll and are removed to the outside of the housing 1 by the roll changer.
