SPACE FORMING METHOD IN SLIDE FASTENER'S CHAIN

The method to produce connecting link-free gaps on toothed fasteners involves processing of the finished fastener in several steps. The operation consists of separating the two halves of the fastener followed by placing each half on a working surface(12). All connecting links which have to be removed to create the gap are fixed on the working surface by pressure pieces. The connecting threads enclosed in the connecting links are cut through at the two points representing the beginning and end of the gap. Subsequently the carrying straps are pulled away from the pressure pieces so that the woof threads and the core cord can be pulled out. The connecting links are removed from the carrier straps leaving intact the woof threads, the core cords and connecting threads along the gap.
