METHODS FOR FABRICATING MIRROR SUBSTRATES OF RESIN CONCRETE AND MIRRORS OBTAINED THEREBY

A method for fabricating a mirror substrate comprises the following operations: - a mould (1) is fabricated of which the bottom (2) has a polished top face (3) which is complementary of the reflecting surface to be obtained; - said face (3) is coated with a film (4) of a mould withdrawer product and a uniform hard layer (5) is deposited; - a resin concrete is cast into the mould (1), is allowed to harden and is withdrawn from the mould to obtain a substrate (6) of resin concrete. One application is the fabrication in series of mirror substrates and mirrors of astronomical quality.
