PURPOSE:To shorten time for picture extraction by making shifting to a still picture reproducing by one frame, and when noise on the picture is detected, feeding another frame, and when noise is not detected, stopping at the point of time. CONSTITUTION:When noise is generated in a television picture when instruction to reproduce a still picture is given from a user and a voltage signal is changed from low to high, the pulse is generated from a noise detector 11 to drive a fine slow controlling circuit 17, and a capstan 14 is driven intermittently. The operation is continued until lowering of level of an envelope becomes no more detectable. When there is no noise the reproduction of a still picture is started at once.
