A line-drawing and cutting appliance permits the drawing of straight lines or the making of straight cuts on uneven, moist or otherwise adhesive substrates. The appliance has a total of 3 legs (1, 3), the two outer legs (1) being rigidly connected (9) to each other and arranged in the manner of an opened compass and the middle leg (3) being pivotably fixed in the region of the connection between the two outer legs (1, 9). The arrangement of the middle leg (3, 5, 6, 7) on the two outer legs (1) is so designed that a possibility of movement of the middle leg (3) in a plane of rotation (X) symmetrical to the two outer legs (1) exists.
