In the roof gutter 1 known per se, an acute-angled and equal-sided sheet-metal or plastic profile extending in the longitudinal direction of the roof gutter is introduced into the gutter trough and dimensioned such that the free ends of the two sides 5 and 6 stand on the base of the gutter trough and the vertex 8 projects, by about 20 to 30% of the side width, beyond the upper edges of the roof gutter. Those edges formed by the free ends of the two sides 5 and 6 are provided at regular intervals with cutouts 10, and the two sides 5 and 6 exhibit, somewhat below the plane which is provided by the upper edges of the roof gutter, in each case one row of slots 12 which serve for the discharge of melt water. <IMAGE>
