A rubbery mass that may serve as a container closure gasket is made by forming a fluid mass comprising an aqueous dispersion of a visco elastic polymer, generally with calcium sulphate hemihydrate or anhydrite, allowing the calcium sulphate to hydrate within the mass to convert the mass to a crumbly solid mass, and converting the crumbly mass to a rubbery mass by heating and/or mechanically working the mass. The invention includes container closures lined with the crumbly mass. |
