PURPOSE:To prevent the deposition of radio activation metal and to reduce the quantity of radiation by coating the surface of stainless steel as a base material with a nickel layer by plating so as to reduce the formation of Cr enriched spinel on the surface of the stainless steel. CONSTITUTION:The surface of stainless steel used as a material for the primary cooling system of a nuclear reactor is plated with nickel to obtain a stainless steel material. When this steel material is used, the formation of Cr enriched spinel due to exposed Cr is inhibited. The deposition of radio activation metal is reduced and the quantity of radiation due to the metal is reduced.
