PURPOSE:To obtain a weld bead having no defects and good welding workability by providing a regulator which inputs a regulating signal to at least either of a setter for the short circuit current in the short circuit stage or a setter for arc voltage in the arc generation stage. CONSTITUTION:The welding operation is executed by feeding a consumable electrode 3 at the prescribed speed to a base metal 11, impressing current from a power source 10 for welding and repeating the short circuit and arc generation between the consumable electrode and the base metal 11. The short circuit current setter 5 which sets the power supply output in the short circuit period, the arc voltage setter 6 which sets the power supply output in the arc generation period and the regulator 7 which inputs the regulating signal to at least either of the setter 5 or the setter 6 are provided to the power source for welding.
