PURPOSE:To reinforce the transversal direction of the intermediate body properly, reduce the weight of formed product and improve the strength of collapse of the formed product by a method wherein paper-like material, consisting of short fibers orientated substantially into a direction intersecting the fibers of a prepreg, is bonded to at least one surface of the unidirectionally orientated fiber reinforced prepreg. CONSTITUTION:A substrate, having a shape mainly used as the intermediate product of carbon fiber usually, is used as an UD prepreg constituting the substrate. The paper-like material, consisting of short fibers orientated substantially into a direction intersecting the lengthwise direction of the UD prepreg constituting the substrate and having anisotropism, is used as the transversal reinforcing material of the intermediate product. The intermediate product, consisting of the UD prepreg and the paper-like material, is manufactured by a method wherein the paper-like material is arranged on the UD prepreg and, thereafter, both of them are adhered by pressurizing and heating, then, the adhered product is wound into a roll.
