PURPOSE:To provide a multicolor thermal transfer recording apparatus having a compact structure, maintenance, reduced in noise and having an excellent printing speed, by performing the recording of information such as a character or a drawing on a recording medium by selectively energizing the heat generators of a plurality of thermal heads. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of thermal heads 6, 7, 8, 9 having heat generators divided into plural sections and cassette ribbons 1, 2, 3, 4 having a plurality of ink ribbons are respectively independently provided on a carriage so as to correspond to each other and the cassette ribbons 1, 2, 3, 4 are linearily arranged in the feeding direction of cassette paper 15 with respect to first and second platens 12, 14. The thermal head pressing plungers provided to the cassette ribbons 1, 2, 3, 4 are cooperated with the end parts of a plurality of roller blocks arranged on the carriage by a printing operation means energized during the printing of one line by a printing signal to perform the taking-up and feeding-out of printing and ink ribbons. |
