PURPOSE:To enable a rapid increase in temperature in a glow plug to be used in a Diesel engine by a method wherein a ceramic heater having heat generating resistive element including tungsten and molybdenum and the like is applied as a heat generating element. CONSTITUTION:A heat generating resistive element 3 formed by a thin plate of high-melting metal such as tungsten, molybdenum and the like is buried in a ceramic sintered element 6 of non-oxide material such as silicon nitride, sialon, aluminum nitride and silicon carbide or the like so as to constitute a ceramic heater Hn which is applied as a heat generating part of the glow plug. With this arrangement, it is possible to make a rapid high increasing in temperature in a short period of time and further to perform a reliable operation without generating any cracks even under an excessive heat cycle. |
