The invention relates to a device for protecting buildings from major technological hazards. It comprises special woodwork elements 1 which do not allow any polluted air to pass to the inside, a tank 3 with protection apparatuses and automatic renewal in order to allow sufficient reserves of drinking water for all the people present in the building at the time of the accident and for all the time required for decontamination or evacuation, syphons 6 with double non-return protection having built-in aerating valves for discharging the sewage and wastewater, a ventilation apparatus 7 with non-return valves 8 for the renewal of air by special filtration, non-return cases 9 for preventing any polluted air from entering through the ducts of the various service systems. This device for protecting buildings is particularly useful against radioactive fallout, and thermal and biological accidents. <IMAGE>
