This continuous conveyor is intended for transporting pallets P along a closed-loop path contained in a virtually vertical plane. The device linking each pallet to the drive device 7, 21, 23, 24 comprises disengageable pinions 6 which mesh with the drive device, while making it possible to separate the advance of the latter from that of the associated pallet when the latter has its progression braked, and provision is made, in line with each of the intermediate portions 5a, 5b of the conveyor, for stationary means comprising a chain part 28 which extends respectively opposite an associated chain of the drive device, which are intended to interact with the linking device of each pallet in order to drive the latter positively along the corresponding intermediate portion.
