PURPOSE:To keep the output of a fuel cell stable and high, by securing a reforming catalyst to the surface of a groove to carry the catalyst to prevent nonuniform reforming reaction. CONSTITUTION:The top of a separator 21, which is put in contact with a negative electrode 13, is left as a metal surface to keep the contact resistance between he separator and the cathode low. Before a catalyst is secured to the groove 17 of the separator, the top of the separator is provided with a mask. After the catalyst is secured to the groove 17, the mask is removed from the top of the separator. in order to secure the catalyst to the groove of the separator, a slurry including a carrier, an active metal nucleus and a promotor or precursors thereof is applied to the surface of the groove, dried and baked so that the carrier, the active metal nucleus and the promotor are activated. This results in preventing nonuniform reforming reaction. |
