A device for the storage and time-prompted taking of medicaments comprises a medicament container on which a signal emitter 14 which can be activated after settable time intervals is located. In order to facilitate programming of the signal emitter and to design the signal emitter so that it can be used for a wide variety of pharmaceuticals, the signal emitter 14 is provided with a reading device 26 for reading-out an item of information which relates to the medicament 10 in the medicament container 12 and is recorded in code form on the medicament container.
