PURPOSE:To enable renewal of a steel belt layer and tread rubber, by a method wherein an additional ply composed of a steel cord covered with unvulcanized rubber is stuck through vulcanization on a base tire obtained by removing a damaged steel belt ply of a worn tire from the worn tire by peeling, over which prevulcanized tread rubber is stuck through vulcanization. CONSTITUTION:The surface from which a damaged steel belt ply has been removed is machined by a grinder and a crown part 2 is adjusted symmetrically. Then a cushion rubber 4 composed of an unvulcanized rubber sheet is stuck on a crown part 2 of an adjusted base tire 3, upon which fresh steel belt additional plies 5, which are in about the same number of sheets with those peeled off in adjusting process of the base tire, are piled and a cover rubber 6 composed of the unvulcanized rubber sheet is piled upon the same further. A curing rim 10 is inserted in the inside of the base tire 3, compressed air is introduced into a curing bag 11 composed of a doughnutlike rubber bag inserted between the rim 10 and base tire 3,steam is introduced into a jacket 7 in a state that a green tire 12 is welded to a mold 8 with pressure and heating and vulcanization are performed.
