The invention relates to a pigsty for accommodating a sow with piglets, an enclosing wall and a floor, located therein, and means which are connected thereon and are intended for comprehensively channelling away the mixture of excrement and urine produced by the sow. The design of the conventional pigstys did not take the special behaviour of a sow with piglets into account. An important example of such natural behaviour is that a sow, when she lies down, looks for a support for her back. In conjunction therewith, the invention proposes to configure a pigsty such that that part of the floor available for the sow is by and large triangular, while the means for channelling away the excrement and urine extends between two sides of said triangle and the corresponding parts of the enclosing wall. <IMAGE>
