In the chain-connecting link (1), the tongue-and-groove joints (8) between the two link halves (2) are formed only on the inner base neck (5b) of the outer leg (5) and on the opposite projection (4b) of the inner leg (4) of each of the two link halves (2). The tongue (5a) is formed with an essentially rectilinear longitudinal edge (5d) which runs at an acute angle (5e) of about 40 to 45 DEG to the longitudinal centre plane (10) of the chain-connecting link (1) and extends as a web part following the inner rounded-out area (3a) of the bow (3) of each link half (2) between lateral curved recesses (5c) up to the base neck (5b) of the outer leg (5).
