PURPOSE:To make it possible to conduct thermal transfer recording on a record ing medium having surface smoothness of relatively low grade, by a method wherein a first layer keeping a specified form in heat is provided on a substrate, a second layer showing adhesion in heat is provided on the first layer, and at least either the first or second layers is made to contain a coloring agent. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer material 1 has thermal transfer ink layers 3 and 4 formed on the surface of a substrate 2. An ink layer of this material has a double-layer structure, and a first ink layer 3 is formed on the substrate 2, while a second ink layer 4 is formed on the ink layer 3. The first ink layer 3 contains a binder 3b which is melted by the application of heat and turns less adherent to the substrate 2 and a minute particle 3a for restricting the fluidity in heat of the binder 3b. The second ink layer 4 has such adhesion as makes the part of the ink layer adhere to a recording medium when a heat is applied to the thermal transfer material 1 in recording, and a coloring agent is contained at heat in one of the ink layer 3 and the second ink layer 4. |
