PURPOSE:To improve the recording and reproducing efficiency by selecting the thickness of an auxiliary magnetic pole and a return path in the running direction of a recording medium both as 100mum or below and opposing magnetic members in the track direction of the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The thickness of the auxiliary magnetic poles 3a1, 3a1' and 3b1, 3b1' and the return paths 3a2, 3a2' and 3b2, 3b2' is selected respectively as <=100mum to decrease the opposed surface area of the opposing magnetic members 3a, 3a'. Then the return paths surround the vicinity of main magnetic poles 1a, 1b from the three sides except a shield plate 8. In using the head like this to apply recording/reproduction simultaneously to two tracks, the recording/ reproduction is attained with a crosstalk of <=-25dB. Thus, the crosstalk between adjacent channles is reduced to improve the recording/reproducing efficiency. |
