Nitrogen oxides are catalytically reduced selectively with ammonia as the reducing agent, without a significant positive pressure in a single-bed or multi-bed reactor, which, in order to avoid breakthrough of reducing agent in the reactor is designed and operated, in such a way that the conversion in one bed is restricted to at most 67% and the addition of reducing agent per bed is controlled accordingly. |
