The title compds. I [R=C1-3 alkyl; n=0 or 1 , useful as plant growth regulators; are prepd. Thus, a mixt. contg. 4.2g Nphosphonomethylglycine, 5.5g trimethylsulfoxonyl iodide and 50ml H2O is heated and treated with 15ml propylene oxide. After stirring for an hr and washing with ether, the resulting supernatant is removed to give 5.8g monotrimethylsulfoxonium salt of N-phosphonomethyl glycine.
