<p>Apparatus for contacting immiscible or partially miscible fluids comprises an injector nozzle (14) for producing a dispersion of fluids entering at inlets (10, 12), a contacting section (20) for maintaining the resulting two phase dispersion for a sufficient holding time to allow extraction to proceed as far as is required, and a hydrocyclone (26) for effecting separation of the two phases.
