PURPOSE:To prevent the wrong use of a credit card by permitting the transaction only when the identification number of a responsible person is supplied in case an amount exceeding a set level is supplied. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 5 checks the coincidence between the identification number read out of a card reader 2 and that supplied from a pin pad and then compares the amount data supplied by the ten keys 12 with the amount set to a memory area 82 of a RAM 8 when it is decided that a confirmation key 112 is operated. Thus it is checked whether the transaction amount is larger than the set amount or not. when the transaction amount is smaller than the set amount, a confirming process is carried out. While a request for input of the identification number of a responsible person is displayed on a display device 3 if the transaction amount is larger than the set value. Then the responsible person is called by a clerk in charge and then supplies his/her own identification number by means of the keys 12. Thus the CPU 5 compares the input identification number with the number set at the memory area 81 of the RAM 8 and confirms the transaction if the coincidence is obtained between both identification numbers.
