<p>A method of forming a container 101 for packaging liquid products, said container having a barrier against gas transmission through the wall thereof, which method comprises forming from a thermoplastic material a top section 103 having closure means and a cylindrical wall section 105; forming a cylindrical body section 102 from a laminated thermoplastic material having at least one layer of a strong plastic to which is adhered to least one layer of barrier plastic; forming a circular container bottom 104 from a thermoplastic plastic, said top section, body section, and bottom being formed of spin-weld- compatible material; and spin-welding said top section 103 and said bottom 104 to said body section 102 at 113 and 112. The container may be a bottle as shown, or else a can. The top section 103 and bottom 104 may be formed by injection moulding or by thermoforming and the body section 102 may be made by coextension or blow- moulding. <IMAGE></p> |
