PURPOSE:To control transmission torque from the outside by filling up a sealed chamber formed between an inner shaft member and an outer cylindrical member with a viscous fluid, providing a disc member which is restricted in the rotating direction and capable of moving in the axial direction on the inner shaft and the outer cylinder, respectively, and operating the disc members by a push piston. CONSTITUTION:A sealed chamber 18 is formed by an inner shaft member 10, an outer cylindrical member 12 and a partition piston 16, and a push piston 30 and an oil chamber 32 are formed on the outer cylindrical member 12. On the other hand, four disc members 40 on the outer cylindrical member side are disposed between a pressure plate 38 and the push piston 30. Disc members 42 on the inner shaft member side are disposed alternatively with the above disc members 40 on the inner shaft member 10 and spline-connected with each other, whereby when the push piston 30 is located at a stop position, these disc members 40, 42 have a designated gap therebetween. Accordingly, the sealed chamber 18 is filled up with a viscous liquid to function as both viscosity and friction, so that transmission torque can be controlled from the outside.
