摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain the spring character such that it rises in accordance with a curve of the second order as a stroke increases, by enclosing oil with a marginal void space and freely compounding the characteristics of three items, i.e. a metal spring, an air spring, and a rubber. CONSTITUTION:When the vehicle height becomes low, a control valve 13 functions so that the oil from a pump 12 is supplied to marginal void spaces 3 and 4, while, when the vehicle height becomes high, the oil in the marginal void spaces 3 and 4 is returned to a tank 14, thereby adjusting the vehicle height. As a result, when pipes 2, which are placed at a certain pitch, are brought in contact and are compressed with each other, the oil in the marginal void spaces flows into an oil chamber 8, pushing down a free piston in spite of gas pressure. Accordingly, a spring characteristic, in which the characteristic of a metal spring and that of an air spring are compounded, can be obtained. In addition, by increasing the thickness of the pipe 2, the characteristic of a rubber spring can also be superimposed. Thus, as the stroke increases, the spring characteristic rises gradually in accordance with a curve of the second order.
