This process is characterised in that a so-called displacing agent which has a chemical structure closely related to that of the compounds to be separated is added to the said mixture, the agent itself being recoverable by any known process, and in that a solid adsorbent is employed whose adsorption selectivity for one of the compounds to be separated is created or possibly enhanced or inverted by the addition of a so-called inducing agent capable of developing specific steric interactions between the skeletons of the adsorbed molecules, which agent is capable itself of being recovered by conventional processes.
