PURPOSE:To suitably maintain the compliance and transverse rigidity of a suspension device at suitable values, by forming a suspension arm for supporting an axle carrier, composed of a transverse arm and a longitudinal arm which is transversely rigid and vertically soft. CONSTITUTION:An upper suspension arm 12 for supporting an axle carrier 16 is an I-like shape, and a lower suspension 14 is composed of a first arm section 20 and a second arm section 22. The first arm section 20 is arranged transverse of a vehicle body, being connected at one end to the vehicle by body through the intermediary of a bushing 24 and at the other end the axle carrier with the use of a bolt and a nut. Further, the second arm section 22 is press-formed in a rectangular cross-section shape or the like with the use of a plate material so that it is rigid in the vertical direction while it is soft in the transverse and twisting directions, and is connected at one end to the vehicle body through the intermediary of a bushing 23 and at the other end 23b to the first arm 20. With this arrangement, it is possible to maintain the compliance, transverse rigidity and compliance steering, suitably. |
